Surf Skis

A surf ski is a narrow, lightweight, open cockpit watercraft with a rounder hull and a foot operated under stern rudder.  They are typically used for life saving in the surf zone, playing in the surf zone or for ocean downwind racing, but are also great day-touring or exercise boats.  Fast, efficient paddlers, they may need a bit of practice to keep stable.  We carry Stellar composite surf skis in the two recreational lengths 14' and 16', and the intermediate 18', but are able to order any of the racing surf skis in the line.  We also have the Stellar 14', 16' and 18' surf skis in our demo fleet for anyone looking to try them out.

We have a rotomolded Pyranha surf ski in our demo fleet, and can order those as required.

Stellar S14S:   The Stellar 14' Surf Ski (S14S) is a recreational sit-on-top kayak that makes entry and exit a breeze by eliminating the need to squeeze in and out of a cockpit. The steering system on the boat is very comfortable and responsive too, keeping you on track to where you want to go! Unlike any other boat of this length, the S14S has the speed of a much longer boat, but beginners can feel comfortable paddling it. Two water tight hatches allow for modest storage for day tripping and overnight adventures. Its short length and light weight make it ideal for those who want a high performance boat that is easy to carry, car-top, and store.

Stellar S16S:   The Stellar 16' Surf Ski (S16S) is a transitional sit-on-top, stable enough for entry level and intermediate paddlers to feel comfortable, but fast enough for fitness paddling and racing! The open cockpit, rounded seat and 3-point footboard is very comfortable and responsive, keeping you on track to where you want to go. Two water tight hatches allow for modest storage for day tripping and overnight adventures. In the ocean, the S16S is a blast, easily catching waves and carving on the waves. The S16S's light weight makes it responsive to your power on the water and with its cockpit handles, it is a breeze to carry and car-top.

Stellar S18S:   The Stellar 18' Surf Ski (S18S) is an entry level surf ski with great top end speed from the S18R hull design, along with the stability that you have come to associate with a Stellar. With 2 dry storage compartments, the S18S is not only a Surf Ski, but also a capable touring kayak. We have added cockpit carry handles to make maneuvering this boat on land as easy as it is on the water! As a standard feature, the S18S is outfitted to accept a kick-up rudder for those who paddle in shallow areas. The S18S also meets the specifications for the USCA Fast Sea Kayak division if you wish to race.

Pyranha Octane:   Designed for medium to large paddlers, the Pyranha Octane 175 SurfSki is aimed at those of an intermediate to advanced skill level, offering speed both on the flat and through the surf and swell, without the same compromise on primary and secondary stability seen in other SurfSkis.  he stern of the Octane 175 is low in volume with a high rocker profile, enabling fast turns between waves; CoreLite construction as standard gives the Octane 175 impressive stiffness for a polyethylene SurfSki, but to increase its dynamic performance, a small degree of flex has been designed in to the stern, allowing a following wave to lift the boat slightly and build up pressure towards the stern of the hull, pushing the SurfSki forwards on to the greener water at the front of the wave whilst the main body of the hull remains flat, setting the Octane up to plane smoothly.
